9 day photo update of DAZL Shammus x DAZL Berakhot pups!

The pups are opening their eyes!  They're wasting no time moving around and even tasting some of the solid foods in their momma's dish!

Berakhot had 6 pups but one of them didn't make it - not exactly sure what happened with the little one, but when I returned home this afternoon it had passed and was away from the others.  The 5 other kids are doing very well - 1 light eyed pup and the other 4 are dark eyed.  It looks like 3 boys and 2 girls at first glance.

Well Berakhot wanted my morning to be an exciting one.  That girl sure knows how to carry eeper weight!  I walked into the rat room to give everyone breakfast and knew right away something was a bit...off.  There was a tiny scream in the air...the scream I know oh so well....newborn bubs!  I checked on the slightly chubby girl and what did I see?  A small stack of pups under her - loud and pink!  It looks like a small litter (yay for me as I love small litters - boo for my waiting list) but no official counts yet.  Photos of momma and babies later.

 I'm sorry for all the dead air!  I've been in CT and trying to keep up with all the photo demands on various boards!  However, a friend of mine reminded me of my sad LJ that is just waiting for new photos, so here they are!

Now for more exciting news, the last litter I have listed on my site has taken!  These are lines that I have been working with for over 5 years!  I am extremely excited for these bubs! 

I am a horrible slacker!  Here are some photos of Joephi's GIANT beastie pups!  They are so round and butterball-esque!



Since she had such a small litter I made the choice to take out 3 of Lulu's smallest pups and place them with Joephi to nurse.  Lulu has some LARGE eeps herself who had been hogging the "feed" and these little folks were getting the short end of the deal.  Now they are getting well fed with their foster siblings and everyone is thriving.

Joephi just started having her pups!  I took some shots of her laying on her back just before she started having them - I'll put them up later on! 

It would be fitting if Joephi waited until tomorrow.....Labor day? Bad pun!  Poor girl is a huge 390g!

Joephi is tipping the scales at 375g!  Can't she hurry up already?!

Joephi gained 10g during the day - she's now up to 370g!

Quick weight update (as I am running late) - Joephi is a whopping 360g!  Here she is:

Woah- that girls eepers must have had a BUSY growing night!  Joephi is up to 350g this morning and decided she wanted to gently bring my bandaided finger into the cage with her- alas, I could not let her keep said finger.  I did substitute it with a piece of 100% natural duck jerky.  She seemed satisfied with the trade off.

With all the excitement of the mini-Bomba's I almost forgot to report on Joephi's weight today- she's up to 335g and posed for this photo today:
She's been enjoying scooting the Yesterdays News from the left side of her cage to the right side of her cage.

Bombalulu gave birth to 12 eepers.  One was exceptionally runty and passed away by the time I came home this afternoon.  She hadn't nursed this morning when I checked on the group; I moved her to the top of the pile, but I didn't have a good feeling about her from the start.  *sigh*

The other 11 are nice sized pups - 7 boys and 4 girls - 4 rexes and 7 standards.  A light eyed pup or 2 in the mix as well.

It's 1:13 am and the first of Bombalulu's pups was just born!!

Joephi jumped to 325g today while poor Bombalulu is a whopping 360g and has made a lovely papertowel shred nest in the right hand corner of her cage.  Treat of the morning:  cooked sweet potato piece

I skipped a day or 2 of weigh in's.  Joephi is going the "slow and steady route" at 318g  while poor Bombalulu has blown up like she has quite a few little Bombalulu's growing and waiting to greet us very soon - 350g!!
